Biography:

2004.10 to present: Vice President and Board member of ACSE;

2003.10 2004.10: Secretary General of ACSE; 

2004.6 to present: President of Perking University Alumni Association.

 

Statement:  If elected, I would like to focus on the following items:

(1) Further enhance the collaboration and cooperation of ACSE with China in all possible fields, extend ACSE influence in China.

(2) Further enlarge the volume of ACSE membership and local chapters, try to make ACSE as the largest Chinese organization in USA.

(3) Further enhance the supporting role of ACSE in culture, technology and science collaboration of China with USA.

(4) Further improve the membership service of ACSE, supply more career development opportunity and information for ACSE members.

(5) Assist the board of ACSE to perfect its regulations, and formalize ACSE as a leading Chinese organization in USA.

(6) Cooperate with all the working team, provide and acknowledge different points of view, and achieve a high standard ACSE accomplishments.

 

 

Hong Jiang (姜洪)Ph.D., male

BiographyHong obtained Ph.D. in 2003 while working in Motorola  He is currently working as a system architect in the Wireless Broadband Division of Motorola (Schaumburg).  Hong has been actively participating in ACSE activities as the Chairman of a Sub-committee (General Committee). He is also volunteering in the Motorola Asian Business Council and preparing for some leadership roles in that organization. Hong is strong in communication skills, both verbal and written (English and Chinese), and strong dedication to work.

 

Statement:  If elected a Board Director, Hong will contribute to ACSE in the following way:

1. Promote the career development forum of ACSE,

2. Attract more members from corporations, such as Motorola.

3. Nurture a strong tie between ACSE and corporations such Motorola.

4. Promote the attitude of dedication and execution among ACSE management team.

5. Oversee the ACSE IT reform.

 

Min Lei, Ph.D, Male

Biography:  Professional activities: Teaching: Course director, Molecular Genetics, MCW.Research: NIH supported principle investigator studying DNA replication, MCW.   Service: Member, Editorial board, Current Patent Review on Cancer Drugs. Member, America Cancer Society Grant Review Committee; Member, MCW Cancer Center Grant Review Committee; Grant reviewer, Hong Kong Research Council; Adjunct Prof.: National Key Laboratory of Microbiology, China.   Social/organizational activities: Faculty governance: Member, Faculty Council, MCW; Charitable Fund Raising: Participant of annual funding raising events of America Cancer Society, MCW Cancer Center, and Kathy’s House (a Milwaukee-based none-profit facility for cancer patients); Community service: As a season ticket holder of the Milwaukee Bucks, I have nurtured a working relationship with the organization. I have obtained commitment from the organization to work with the Huston Rocket to have a “Meet with Yao Ming” session for Chinese kids when he visits next season.  I have committed to them to organize local help to facilitate the Beijing Duck Basketball Club’s visit in early August, 2005.

 

Statement:  I would like to have an opportunity to work with other ACSE members to make an effort to show case our community’s strength and presence to the main stream society in its’ professional, cultural, and political scenes.  I would also like to work with the membership and leadership to try to secure a certain number of volunteer slots from the Beijing 2008 Olympic Organizing Committee, on behalf of ACSE, for American teenagers (14-18, Chinese-decedent or otherwise) who speak Chinese and know something about China. I believe this effort, should we act soon and succeed with the benefit of ACSE’s organizational strength, will not only draw kids into Chinese and China learning, but also strengthen ACSE’s standing in the Chinese community as well as in the society in general.

 

Kezhun Li (李克准)Ph.D., Male

Biography:  PhD. University of California, Berkeley, Mechanical Engineering

M.Engr, B. Sci., Harbin Institute of Technology

      Currently working at CNH Global, the world leader in heavy machinery industry, as a manager. Responsible for deployment of digital prototyping and simulation technology in product development. Directly involved in engineering integration between US and Europe since 2001. Extensive technology development and implementation experience. Many years of experience in global management and coordination.

      Has been active in ACSE for a number of years, currently serving as Vice Secretary General of ACSE.

 

Statement:  If elected, I will assist ACSE and take advantage of high profile and diversity of ACSE members to promote technology exchange and collaboration with Chinese industries.  Provide ACSE members opportunities for career development Build members network and enrich members life. Working with all the members to increase ACSEs reputation and influence. Build a platform to increase China-US mutual understanding and exchange of technology and culture.

 

 

George Yu (余枝广) Ph.D., male

Nominated for:  Board  Director

Biography:  Currently works at Abbott Laboratories as a Principle Scientist.  Served as Secretary General of ACSE since October 2004.

Academic and work Achievements:  Published 25 papers on scientific journals as author or co-author. Made contributions to launch a broad spectrum of diagnostic products, including HIV, cardiac/cancer markers, and transplant drugs, etc.

Organizational Skills: (1) Acted as a counselor for undergraduate students  (2) Lectured for more than 3 yrs at universities (3) Functioned as a member at Technology Advisory Board at Abbott Diagnostic Division (4) Participated at organizing local Chinese community events, such Great-Lakes Chinese American Chemical Society annual meetings, etc.

Strength:  Strategic planning

 

Statement:  As a board member, the critical responsibility is to set up clear vision and to identify practical path for ACSE to grow.  Communication and mutual supports between ACSE working team and board will be an essential element for a successful operation. Also, board members need guide ACSE activities based on its by-laws and operation rules.  If elected, I will concentrate on strategic planning, looking for growth opportunity for ACSE.  Also I will team-up with other board members to build up a solid framework for ACSE.

 

Ashley Xu (徐薇)Ph.D. female

Biography:  Ashley Xu obtained Ph.D. at Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1992, and MBA at DePaul University in June 2002. Came to the United States as Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1994, and then work as a Research Scientist in a Chicago-based small company, and a senior QA professional/team leader in Abbott Labs from 2000-2003, and started her own business (3B Medical Systems, Inc) from 2004 until present.

      Ashley has been actively participated in ACSE activities and joined the ACSE delegations to China in 2003 and 2004. She has been one of the active working team members in ACSE, and willing to do more things in near future to serve our members and promote our organization in US and China. She is goal-oriented, team-player with strong communication/organization skills.

 

Statement: 

1. Recruit more members for the ACSE organization.

2. Promote the business exchange between US and China.

3. Promote ACSE organization in our community.

 

 

 

Xiangdong Xu (徐向东) Ph.D., male

Nominated for:  Board  Director

Biography:  Xiangdong is currently a Senior Chemist at Abbott Laboratories.  He has Over ten years experience in pharmaceutical industry with more than twenty publications and patents; involved in several successful projects such as the discovery of Celebrex at Searle (acquired by Pfizer).  He was a member of student union at Fudan University from 1985-1987, responsible for student publication and news media.  At Searle, he organized annual events for Chinese employees at Searle such as summer picnic and Chinese New Years party; Coordinated Chemistry departments United Way activity in 2002 at Searle. He is a long-time Chicago area resident (15 years); good communication and social skills; willing to participate in public works; enjoy sports and other social activities.

            Xiangdong currently serves ACSE as the Director of Culture Activities.

 

Statement:  If elected to the Board of Directors, I will hard to: (1) increase ACSEs publicity and exposure through personal and professional interactions in local Chinese community; (2) Open more channels to recruit new members and attract new talents for ACSE organization; (3) Facilitate social and professional network among ACSE members by organizing more localized and informal cultural activities such as sports and family outings.

 

 

Xiao Xu (徐晓) Ph.D., male

Nominated for:  Board  Director

Biography:  Graduated from The Univ. of Tennessee and earned the PhD in Nuclear Engineering in 2000.  Currently work for SmartSignal Corp as a Research Engineer. Mainly focus on studying and developing new technologies applied in equipment health monitoring and diagnostics. So far four applications are patent-pending and patent on one application has been granted. I have been an ACSE member since 2002 and am currently serving as the Director of Sub-Committee on Chapter Activity & Development.

 

Statement:  Help ACSE to improve communication and strengthen technical corporation with Chinese bureaus. Tie closely the relationships in the aspects of communication and corporation among all ACSE chapters to coordinate the activities among chapters. Devote my effort to help ACSE as well as individual members to reach their ultimate goals. To help ACSE becoming a platform of technical exchange between Chinese and US. 

 

 

Mingyuan Zhou (周明远)Ph.D.; Male.

 简历:本人于1992年获得人体分子生理学博士学位。目前在西北大学任教授。在本职工作之外,我曾任大学学生会学习部长(1977-981),中央讲师团河北易县支教组组长(1986-1987),中国国家体育科学研究所试验中心主任(1985-1987),中国在丹麦学生学者联谊会主席(1989)和旅美中国科学家工程师专业人士协会公共关系部主任〔2004-现在〕。本人专业为生物医学和生物工程学。除专业能力之外,我有相当良好的体育背景,和社交及拉丁舞的基础;具有良好的组织能力,社交能力和团队精神。

 

意向: 如当选协会理事,我将依照协会的宗旨,努力为协会的成员服务。我将致力于: (1)扩大学会在美国主流社会和中国国内的影响,为协会和协会会员创造更多的发展机会;〔2〕向在美的广大中国和华裔学人宣传本协会,为协会吸收新鲜血液和扩大协会的规模; (3)协助理事长并会同其他理事及协会的负责人,完成逐年协会的工作目标;
